 Lorraine
H. Harris is a licensed acupuncturist and
Chinese herbalist with
a practice located in Asheville, North Carolina.
Ms. Harris is also a Nationally Certified Practitioner
of Oriental Medicine,
and a California Board Certified Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist. Prior
to starting her practice in Asheville in 2002, Ms. Harris had a private
health practitioner practice in San Diego, California since 1998.
Ms. Harris is the only practitioner in western North Carolina offering
The Fertile Soul Method™ for fertility and Mei
Zen™ cosmetic acupuncture for facial rejuvenation. She
is a charter member of The Fertile Soul's Clinical Excellence in Fertility
Program.
Her programs address various gynecological
disorders, menopause discomforts,
and other women's health issues.
Her
comprehensive services include complete health assessments, Japanese-style
acupuncture, Chinese herbal
medicine, Chinese tonic
herbalism, Eastern nutrition
and food therapy,
and life-style counseling.
Ms. Harris holds a Master of Science degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine
earned from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California.
Her base training of over 3,100 hours at Pacific College includes extensive
training in Chinese, Japanese and ear acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine,
moxibustion therapy, tui na, tai chi, chi gong, and Eastern nutrition,
as well as internships at clinics in the San Diego area. She also has advanced
training in infertility, Chinese gynecology, cosmetic
acupuncture, tonic herbalism, and food
therapy.
Ms. Harris has additional western-related schooling in the biosciences,
pharmacology, western pathology, western clinical studies, physical examination
and ortho-neurological assessment techniques, and western nutrition. This
background education enables Ms. Harris to help her patients understand
western diagnoses, treatments and pharmaceutical medications.
Prior to starting her private acupuncture practice in California,
for 2 years Ms. Harris practiced acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine
at the Pacific
College of Oriental Medicine and the Pacific Beach Methodist Church
acupuncture clinic for the homeless and was a licensed Holistic Health
Pracitioner. She also mentored with an acupuncturist who specializes
in chronic and complex cases, was an assistant manager at Happy Toad
Herbal Pharmacy, provided physical therapy to the physically disadvantaged
and conducted physical assessments for the elderly at the San Diego State
University clinic.
In addition to her training in Eastern and Western medicine, Ms.
Harris has a Masters in Business Administration degree from the University
of Colorado, in Denver. Her prior career of nearly 20 years was in
advertising and marketing research. She worked as a marketing research
manager for a corporation in New York and TV stations in Denver and
San Diego before establishing her own business as a marketing research
consultant in the San Diego area.
